Korean Beef Stew
A perfect dish to eat while watching your fave K-Drama! Korean Beef Stew has warmed our tummies like it's a "Stairway to Heaven" Crash Landing on us and reigning like the King eternally in our hearts. (Sorry can't put all our beloved shows here!) Serve it up at home, and you'll surely say "Sarang haeyo!" Here's how:Prep time: 20 mins
Cook time: 6 hours (slow-cooked)
Spice Blend Used: Reqado Barbecue Spice
1 kilo beef ribs
1 small ginger cut in thin slices
1 red onion, coarsely chopped
4 cloves garlic, coarsely chopped
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
3 tbsps soy sauce
1 tbsp Reqado Barbecue Spice
1 tbsp oyster sauce
3 and 1/2 tbsps sugar
2 tbsps oil
1 tbsp chili powder
Heat pot and add oil. Sauté ginger until aromatic, add onions until translucent and then add garlic. Add a dash of salt. Place beef ribs and sear on all sides.
Once beef is brown then add water to cover half of the beef. Add two tablespoon of sugar. Let it boil for 10 mins then switch to low flame for slow cooking time of 4 hours.
On the side, mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, Reqado Barbecue Spice, 1 and 1/2 tablespoon of sugar. Taste to adjust saltiness or sweetness. Add chili powder if you want to make it spicier.
Once beef is 3/4 tender, add the soy mix and then cook for another 2 hours on low heat.
On a hot pan, toast sesame seed for 1-2 minutes. Add sesame seed to the beef and leave some for garnish.
Serve with rice, boiled egg, or noodles and enjoy.
